You don't need your phone to use Threads. At threads.com you can scroll, post, schedule, reply, send messages and watch several feeds side by side in columns. Here's how to log in, find your way around, set up columns and install it like an app.
Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook.
Type threads.com in your browser. Old threads.net links redirect there automatically. Only log in on the real address.
Choose Continue with Instagram, or enter your Instagram username and password. Complete two-factor authentication if it's on.
Click your profile icon in the sidebar to confirm you're on the right account. Switch accounts from the menu if you manage more than one.
Pin the feeds you care about as columns, or keep the single-feed view with feed tabs along the top.
Add a bookmark, or install threads.com as an app so it opens in its own window (see below).
Not logged in? You can still view many public profiles and posts on threads.com, but you'll need to log in to post, reply, like or follow. Trouble logging in? See Threads login problems and switching accounts.
Click a numbered dot or the list to see what each part of the screen does. This is a simplified diagram, so icons and positions can vary with updates.
Columns let you watch several feeds at once, which is great for creators, community managers and news fans. Try it below: tick the feeds you want to pin.
Use the + or pin option at the edge of your feed, or open a feed's menu (•••) and choose to pin it. Pick a feed, search, notifications, saved posts or a custom feed.
Open a column's menu to move it left or right, or remove it. Your layout is saved to your account on that browser.
Switch back to the app-style view, with feed tabs along the top and one column of posts. It's easier on smaller laptop screens.

Since May 2026, Threads direct messages work on the web as well as in the app.
Full guide: Threads messages. Threads DMs are not end-to-end encrypted, so don't share passwords or sensitive details.
Most browsers can turn threads.com into a desktop app with its own window and icon. We've picked the steps for your browser.
On your phone instead? Download the Threads app for iPhone or Android. More: Threads on desktop.
Most features work in both. New features sometimes arrive in the app first.
Make sure you're on threads.com (or a threads.net link that redirects). Never log in from a link in a message or email.
Press Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, to reload without the cached page.
A login loop is often stale cookies. Clear cookies and site data for threads.com and instagram.com, then log in again.
Ad blockers and privacy extensions can break feeds and video. Try a private window, or allow threads.com.
Old browser versions miss features like DMs and video playback. Update, then restart the browser.
If it fails in the app too, it may be an outage or an account issue rather than your computer.
