No Insights icon, zeros everywhere, missing demographics or numbers that don't match? Most Insights problems come down to the app version, the account you're on, the date range, a short data delay or the 100-follower rule. Work through the quick checks, then pick your symptom for a specific fix.
They fix most Insights problems in a couple of minutes. Tick them off as you go.
Start with number 1.
Small differences are normal. Here's what usually causes them.
| Comparing | Why they differ | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| App vs threads.com | Brief sync delays between devices. | Refresh both and compare the same date range. |
| Insights vs the post itself | The post can update before the Insights summary does. | Wait a few hours; trust the summary for trends. |
| Threads vs an analytics tool | Tools sync on a schedule, may use another time zone, and only see API data - API reply counts skip nested replies. | Match the date range and time zone; expect small gaps. |
| Link clicks vs website visits | Some people tap but leave before the page loads; some visits arrive without a referrer. | Use UTM tags and compare trends, not exact counts. |
| This week vs last week | Different numbers of posts, days or a viral outlier. | Compare averages per post, not totals. |
Tools read your numbers through the official Threads API, so they need permission and a working connection.
Disconnect and reconnect Threads in the tool, using the official Threads login.
When asked, approve access to insights - without it the tool can publish but not read numbers.
Many tools refresh once a day. Look for a "last updated" time or a manual sync button.
Use the same date range and time zone as Threads Insights before comparing.
Account data through the API starts on April 13, 2024, and some metrics are still rolling out.
