Tap Continue with Instagram, pick the account you're signed into (or "Use different account" and enter its login). Import your photo, bio, and link with one tap, and optionally follow everyone you already follow on Instagram. Your username transfers automatically.
Choose the standalone option to create a Threads profile from scratch - pick a username, add a photo and bio, and start fresh with no Instagram link.
You must meet the minimum age in your region, and one Instagram account maps to one Threads profile. Business users: make Instagram a Professional account first (see the Business guide).
Once your account exists, here's how sign-in works day to day.
Open the app or threads.com and continue with your Instagram credentials - if you're already signed into Instagram on that device, it's one tap with no password.

Threads login is Instagram login: reset your password through Instagram's "Forgot password" flow, then return to Threads. Enable two-factor authentication on Instagram to protect both apps at once.
